in December we had a busy programme of carol singing in our local area and at Haworth, West Yorkshire. Our major concerts were held at Deepcar St John’s Church with guests – Deepcar St John’s Junior School Choir an the Sheffield Tremorloes; and at the Venue Stocksbridge – with Deepcar Brass Band.

On 30th September we were one of 5 choirs performing in the Mixed Voice section at the Penistone Music Festival. We were unable to get into the first 3, but thoroughly enjoyed the day, and had the opportunity to listen to some excellent choirs. We shall be looking forward to improving our performance for next year and trying to win back the cup we relinquished for coming second last year! Or even better – first!

On June 24th we held our summer concert at Wesley Hall to raise money for the Sheffield branch of Parkinsons UK.
We were joined by special guests the Steel City Tremorloes and Ecclesall All Saints Children’s Choir. A fabulous evening – with fantastic singing by all the groups!

We had a sell-out concert at Bolsterstone Church in April, where we performed Faure’s Requiem. We were pleased to welcome some very talented musicians and soloists to accompany us in this iconic work.

On the 30th April the Tour de Yorkshire finished at Fox Valley, Stocksbridge, and there was great excitement and a festive atmosphere. Waldershelf Singers member Chris Herbert wrote the lyrics for a catchy song about the Tour finishing in Stocksbridge, and the choir made a video which was featured on Radio Sheffield’s Facebook page. This led to the choir being invited to perform the song at Fox Valley at the start of the afternoon’s entertainment.
