Saturday October 27th at 7.15pm at Sheffield Cathedral

Waldershelf Singers, along with choristers from Vivacity Choir, will be joined by the award winning Stannington Brass Band and their Musical Director Derek Renshaw to perform this powerful and poignant work by Sir Karl Jenkins. Originally commissioned for themillenium by the British Royal Armouries dedicated to the victims of the Kosovo crisis – this is a contempory example of a mass based on the 15th century French song L’homme armé (The Armed Man). Set within the framework of the Christian mass, The Armed Man is a major choral work which uses both sacred and secular texts. This enigmatic work will be conducted by Rachel Atkinson, Musical Director of Waldershelf Singers.

The concert is a commemoration of the centenary of the end of World War One and will include music and words reflecting on the events of that time.
