Tuesday 10th October 7.30pm to 9.30pm at the Venue, Stocksbridge
Christmas is coming! Are you new to the area and interested in learning some of our local carols? Would you like an opportunity to rehearse with Waldershelf Singers on Tuesday October 10th at the Venue, Stocksbridge. (see our events page)
Every year we sing many variations of local Christmas Carols, which have been immortalised by Worral Male Voice Choir (sadly no longer in existence) in the ‘Blue Book’. These local carols have been around for decades and are sung regularly around the local area (mainly Stannington, Grenoside, Oughtibridge, Worrall and Penistone in any pub or venue which is licenced! Or outdoors under a community Christmas Tree, often with a local brass band. There is nothing like the experience of wrapping up warm with your Santa hat on and singing Ding Dong Merrily on High or Back Lane or Stannington to an appreciative audience who will most likely join in. Singing the harmonies is the challenge, so come along and learn the alto, tenor or bass parts with Waldershelf and Music Director Rachel.
A coach party from Waldershelf go to Haworth each year near Christmas and sing Blue Book carols in the village at various locations – an experience not to be missed! And we have been invited to join the customers of the Blue Ball at Worrall on the evening of Thursday, 14th December. Our Christmas Concert will feature a selection of the carols in the finale with the audience joining in.
